the fill-ins

I copied this from Sam at Simply Sam

1. If I weren't a teacher I'd love to be a publisher .
2. When I'm super upset I complain and scowl .
3. My favorite thing about myself is my ability to improvise .
4. If I found a $100 in the pocket of last winter's coat I'd spend it on pocket it so I could make it to the end of the month .
5. Even though some people might consider this a flaw, I love early bedtime .
6. I love the way I feel after I have all passing grades on student's tests (it has happened twice) .
7. I love my hair most when it's not hanging in my face .

it feels good to be a gangster

I saw snow today for the third time this winter - I don't remember the last time this happened in the 'Sip

My freshman year roommate - the lovely Katy L. Jefferson is a blonde shag wearing size of a toothpick girl who was just as goofy as myself.  She told me once she wanted this song to play every time she walked into a room.  I miss her so much.

On to last night's escapades. I was a player, as Liz called me. It was priceless, There was flirting, there was hand holding there was 'kneesing". For the first time ever I was hit on before the BFF. The classic moment was when the dance partner from last week came in and broke up the closeness. I know I turned three shades of red. Then an hour and half later when I was told by Kareem, 'don't get all shy about it'. I call it practically monumental.  Although I think my friends are making a bigger deal out of boy with the red truck than what is actually happening. He'll be at the Superbowl though so its all a question of whether or not we have a run in over the week. Can I mention that 'boy toy' already sent me a text?

Does it make me a social reject if I have had more make attention in one month than I did all of last year?

My mom is better. She is up, she is moving a 20 foot path and she is not in near as much pain. The doctor visit to get the bandages off her leg is Monday and I am hoping for the best.

And now I am about to go spend the day with my Grandma and enjoy it.

I must say my mood is much improved! What has put you in a good mood for the weekend?

where is the warning...

I am in foul mood - I have beef with about everyone I've come in contact with today.

I really wish I could just tell someone off and make things better, but I will be nice and bite my tongue as it will help no one if I say something in the moment.

*grumble, grumble, work, grumble grumble, dad, grumble, grumble, brother, grumble, grumble*

Marshmallows

I bite my tongue at the subject of my brother right now as I know it is always a case of if you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all.  And if I type it out and put it for all the world to see, it is something that cannot be taken back.

Thursday was one of those mediocre days that you know existed, but you remember nothing specific.  I do know that everything I did worked at an hour behind its normal completion time which quite abnormal for moi.  Friday was a different story it was one of those days where everything I did was timed perfectly.  I got everything I could imagined accomplished with to much of a stress.  Even schoolwork wise my class got it all done, which is usually a rarity.  Best news was that on the reading test - everyone passed.  Lowest score was a 72.  Epic accomplishment in my life.

Thursday night was the opportunity I took to confess my match secret to core friends.  Ones who I knew would not judge or ask for an explanation.  Which leads us into the blind date.

I think for a blind date it went extremely well.  He was very very normal.  Not the coolest, but not social reject.  Besides he was nervous, very very nervous - more outwardly nervous than I can ever remember being.  In the car I gave my self pep talk and took as smooth as possible.  Now on the point of a real date:  Am I interested in finding out more about him, nope.  Did I find myself attracted to him, not in the least (no pull at all for even the simplest kiss).  Did he give me any hints that he was interested, not at all.  Do I think I'll go out with him again, if I do it'd be a shock.  But I did it - I had a date.

On the flip side the boy with the smile that made me melt like an 11 year old with her new issue of Teen Bop with a Jonas Brothers expose has fallen silent.  Perhaps it is for the best, as he might have been too pretty a match for me.

Afterwards I went out with the BFF and another female friend and enjoyed the girl talk.  Later as the boys all peeled off from their newspaper jobs, I danced with a sexy example of a man.  If given the opportunity to express this thought at another time, I will.

On a more important  personal note.  I've gotten an eye infection, surely somehow relates to my K's.  No contacts all week and eye drops every six hours - grumbles about the glasses.

Now looking forward to Monday.  It is yet another four day week for me as My mom is set for some surgery on Tuesday.  Which needs to be included with a mention that my grandmother is here for two weeks.  It shall be an interesting time.

To all my blogger friends, positive thoughts for a new week.

Now you need to seven things about moi...
1 - I really really want an English Bulldog, like my Uni mascot.  I already have the perfect named picked out whether it be male or female - Oktibbeha 'ocah-tib-be-ha' -  the county were you find the great Mississippi State University.
2 - I dislike being the center of attention on all days but one - my birthday.
3 - I don't like food items on my plate to touch - there should be a buffer zone at all times.
4 - Patterns on clothes scare me, as I am afraid I won't match.
5 - I've never ever once had a Valentine.
6 - I love scary movies - the more supernatural elements the better.
7 - If I was stranded on a deserted island the first two things I would want are sunglasses and diet coke.  The rest of life is just details...

On to the important details if you so care...

Job - We went back to school after the no water crisis on Tuesday.  Today I only worked half a day as I had my job interview.  I loved the school, loved the people.  Oh I want it so bad.  I was told to call in two weeks, if I had not heard from her in that time period.  As of right now I have one school related item to get done tonight.  I think I can do it, and sleep at a normal time.

Friends - PR party tomorrow night woot woot.

The Blind Date - That did not occur - shortly before I started to prep we were put under severe storm warnings, email from him notified me of this as I was oblivious.  Tentatively rescheduled for sometime this weekend - we shall see as I got a "I really do want to meet you."  Whatevah...

Cheers to a quick Thursday and Friday.

Huh?

What was I thinking?

triumph over technology

I have triumphed over technology! I found the television remote in the laptop bag.

Wednesday Why...

Why do I feel like the free Starbucks coupon means I have to order something fancy in the venti size?

Why don't I start on next week's stuff?

Why don't I print out my resume?

Why am I watching American Idol?

Why aren't I trying to find the TV remote?

A missed opportunity

Dear cute boy at Borders, I'm sorry I was on the aisle with my mom.  When I ditched her to make a round, you had moved.  Stalling as best I could I kept looking.  Seventeen minutes later I finally check out, and as I'm walking out the door I see you again.  There is no way I can come back to Borders in such a short time.  Sorry, as I might have spoken had we been within 3 feet or each other.  Thanks for the smile.

Love, the curly headed girl in the purple coat

The Friday Pretty

Thank you Mr. Pilot Man Dalton. I think it is pretty and fun. Apparently someone wants to know more about me.

For all those I awarded, here are the rules:
1) Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2) Copy the award & place it on your blog.
3) Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4) Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself.
5) Nominate 7 bloggers.
6) Post links to the 7 blogs I nominate.

My things...
1. Berries no Cherries - I despise all cherry type things. Bad experiences from childhood has given me a life long cherry ban. Thinking about the fruit makes me shudder.
2. Permanent - I like sharpie markers, they fit my career perfectly, and I carry one with me at all times. I do not deface things, but chances are if I'm out to dinner, I've signed my receipt in green or blue sharpie.
3. Shower power - I like to take showers. Taking a soak does very little for me.
4. Picture Books - I get excited over children's literature. My classroom's library has about 350 titles.
5. Reindeer - I have a cute little reindeer collection I put out during Christmas time. My mom adds to it very year, and there is not a single Rudolph depicted reindeer in the bunch. Glowing noses need not apply.
6. Textual - I think in fonts. Often I can look at something and name its typeface, or mentally I assign an appropriate typeface to an event. My favorites are Venetian style fonts.
7. Name Game - I don't name things. My car, computer, iPod, kindle, bed, and what not are nameless.

Now for those I'd like to pass it on to...though I think I read them more often than they read me.
The Glamourous Life in Purple would not be complete with the beautiful award - she's still sticking to her resolutions.
A southern girl like myself Steph - her work related stories are entertaining to say the least.
The girl Andrea - witty and to the point reading
The girl is trying her best to make it in a new city - Paige
Jessie at A Punctuated Life gives awesome eye candy posts
The girl who posted about the $750 cupcake and drinking black coffee - Jen
There is also this girl Lilly - who makes me want to live/love in the big city.

My Wednesday night fog

Late wednesday nights, my hair has become the victim of barrettes and bobby pins, my computer is humming, my fingers have lost feelings in the tips, and I rub my eyes to see past the haze of being a involuntary workaholic.

So there is this vicious cycle to my life. It goes as so...
Every Thursday at 12-noon lesson plans, helping hand interventions, and all attachments are due. Every second week this includes common assessment in reading, language, and math.
For those of you that are in or remember college - This equates to a 10 page report due once a week.

Sometimes I want to cry about it. Somedays I think - "What would happen if we just didn't do it." However that would directly negate one of those work resolutions. Never fear though it gets done, but not with out the extended effort by myself and cohort Anna. We get our pretty 20 pages in. Tonight's effort ended with only two cups of coffee and not once pressing next on the iPod.

One of these days I will lead a revolution where we all go back to the bartering system.

Channeling Adam Sandler

Oh, Back to School...
I've have taken a 16 day hiatus and it has been nice.
Now as I need to sleep to meet my smiling twenty over zealous five years olds I am pondering the school year. before we got out the principal shared with us 'professional reads' from a text you use when trying to become nationally board certified. All were about being the best and loving your job, ways to do a better job, in broad schemes you could adapt.

Ta da ladies and gentleman now I will give you the wants list for school days 86-180
  • I will be excited to see every child everyday
  • I will spend more time with them reading
  • I will try to be a better listener to my students
  • I will try to ask their opinion more often
  • I will carry through with my bribes promises
  • I will want this job next year
  • I will not earn a sneer from Lord Voldemort
That is all, please return your chair back tables to their upright positions and do not access your cellular telephones until the captain has turned off the fasten seat belt light.

Thinking not doing

Sometimes I think about kissing so much my lips tremble. It has been so long.

Something you warm up with...

The first day of this new year has been excellent, moreover it has been an excellent last day of vacation! As Monday its back to school. A night of cajun-y coastal favorites, lots of picture taking, watching the ball drop twice (Eastern and Central), Taboo (Something you warm up with...- A sexy lady!), throwing chocolate cookie 'ninja' stars, and a club all to ourselves. It says a lot when you sleep only three hours of the day. I'll say this year already holds lots of potential! Now if only I had started the year with a clean bedroom. And my New Years kiss was the same person I had one with in 2005!

Here's a glimpse of the mad ninja star skills.
